Elizabeth Therese Fisher was born in Prairie du Chien in 1810. Elizabeth married Henry Baird August 12, 1824 and the couple settled in Green Bay. Elizabeth Therese Baird had detailed knowledge of the fur trade, American Indian family connections, and ability to interpret for French clients. Her home became a social gathering place in Green Bay and her skills contributed to Henry's success in politics and law. Elizabeth died in Green Bay on November 5, 1890. During her lifetime she saw Wisconsin grow from 150 pioneer families to a population of nearly 2 million.
