Ice Fishing Shawano Lake
Small groups of people dot the ice as they fish on Shawano Lake, middle 20th century. Shawano Lake has been known for its Bluegills, Largemouth Bass, Muskellunge, Northern Pike, and Walleye since Europeans settled the region. Shanties began to be used for ice fishing in some Northern Wisconsin lakes as early as 1900. Many people, nevertheless, continue to fish in the open air.
