Walnut Street

Except for the streetcar, Walnut Street was fairly quiet on Labor Day in 1904. This aerial view looks west and was taken from the tower of Turner Hall. The Hall was on the northwest corner of Monroe and Walnut Streets and served as headquarters for the Turnverein, or Turner Society, a German organization focused on athletics and politics.
