Campaigning on behalf of Eugene McCarthy in March 1968, actor Paul Newman speaks to a crowd on East Walnut Street near the Vic Theater. Newman campaigned heavily for McCarthy during the primaries and was also a McCarthy delegate to the Democratic convention. The actor's support for McCarthy was, like many others, largely based on McCarthy's stance against the Vietnam War.
