Antiwar protesters gathered on the Brown County courthouse lawn as part of a nationwide demonstration against increased United States air warfare in Vietnam. In early April, 1972, President Nixon authorized a massive bombing campaign against invading North Vietnamese troops and B-52 air strikes about 145 miles into North Vietnam.
