Emlen Tunnell

Born in 1925, Emlen Tunnell played in the NFL for 14 years from 1948-1961. He started his career in New York as the first African American player for the New York Giants. Tunnell played with the Giants for 11 years before moving to the Green Bay Packers when the Giant’s offensive coordinator, Vince Lombardi, took over the head coaching duties at Green Bay. He was later elected as the first African American in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1967.
