Vice President Nixon arrives for New City Stadium Dedication
Vice President Richard Nixon arrives in Green Bay to celebrate the dedication of New City Stadium in 1957. He is shown pictured with (from left to right) Mayor Otto Rachels, Sheriff Artley Skenandore, and Congressman John Byrnes. Nixon, an old football fan who rooted for the Redskins, was introduced by Representative Byrnes (Rep., Wis.). He commended the people of Green Bay, saying, "you built this stadium yourselves." He said it was refreshing to find a community that did not seek federal aid for a project.
