A Street Car with People
"1910 - About the turn of the century, when street cars were about at the height of their success and popularity, and there was really no other form of public transportation, the Open Air car as shown in this picture was a great favorite in the hot summer weather, and folks would ride in them just for the excitement of the ride! If you were among the "Elite" you would charter an "open car" and treat your friends or guests to an open air ride all over the city's car lines. unexpected showers sometimes took the happy edge off the ride, especially when the available curtains couldn't protect the passengers too well. but - who cared? Everybody enjoyed a ride in an open car! Appearing in this picture, from left, George Ketchum, (#2 not identified) Joe Jossart (master mechanic) , Charles Okrush, and Christ Erdman.
